Calculate fence materials needed: posts, rails, and pickets based on perimeter, post spacing, and rail count. Free online fencing calculator.
The fence material calculator determines how many posts, rails, pickets, and bags of concrete you need for your fencing project. Accurate material estimation prevents costly extra trips to the lumber yard and helps you budget your project properly.
Posts = (Perimeter ÷ Post Spacing) + 1
Rails = Sections × Rails Per Section
Pickets = Per Section × Sections
Concrete = Posts × 2 bagsPosts are placed at regular intervals along the perimeter with an extra post at the end. Rails run horizontally between posts, with the number per section determined by fence height and style. Pickets are calculated based on standard 5.5-inch width with 0.25-inch spacing. Two bags of concrete per post ensure stable installation.
